Mayor A. Lamar "buddy Ouzts |
Mayor Buddy Ouzts
Mayor “Buddy” Ouzts has a considered and logical vision for the city of Winder. He has taken into consideration the explosive growth taking place in Gwinnett County and moving rapidly in the direction of Winder. Indeed, many people who live in Northern Gwinnett County are beginning to discover the history and charm of Winder. Mayor Ouzts has the following vision:
“My vision for the city of Winder has been and continues to be to ensure a community that is a blend of monitored growth while maintaining the "hometown" feeling that our citizens expect and deserve. We are experiencing the early stages of an explosion of growth as neighboring counties in the Atlanta area expand into our area. We are committed to structuring this growth to offer advantages to our citizens while at the same time, preserving the integrity of our historic district and ensuring sufficient infrastructure for current and future needs. We have a five-year capital improvement plan that is reviewed, revised and updated annually. This plan serves as a blueprint to meet current and anticipated needs in terms of public service (water, wastewater, sanitation, gas, streets, etc.) and public safety (fire and police).
Input from citizens plays a large part in improving our community. Along these lines, the City of Winder government appoints citizens to serve on the Planning Board, Historic Preservation, Downtown Development and numerous other advisory positions. Visions must be embraced by all if we are to achieve our goals and our government can only be effective if we are accessible and responsive to those we serve. I remain committed to this philosophy and pledge my continued assurance to deliver governmental services that are cost effective and that keep pace with our growing community.”
